We are pleased to be supplying our Magnaprobe Magnetic Field Indicators to the world-famous STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Didcot. Dr Ross Stewart of the Excitations and Polarized Neutron Group explained how they are utilising our Magnaprobes. Dr Stewart and the team are using the magnaprobes for detecting magnetic field directions (and sudden reversals) around polarized neutron scattering instruments. “In such instruments it’s really important that the magnetic field evolves very smoothly, and magnaprobes (especially Mk I) are used worldwide for this purpose, and have been for many years now,” says Dr Stewart.
The research group operates some of the world's leading neutron spectrometers, able to measure magnetic and atomic excitations over a wide energy and momentum-transfer range.
The Rutherford Appleton laboratory supports a national and international community of more than 2,000 scientists who use neutrons and muons for research in physics, chemistry, materials science, geology, engineering, and biology.
